Art of conversation

With so much muddling of facts.                                                                                                         Rational political conversations are                                                                                                    scarcely possible.

For sake of old freindships,                                                                                                                   I put myself on silent mode.

And spend my time to appreciate creativity in                                                                                art and beauty.

Society was so different when I was growing up. Religious diversity was very well accepted and we were part of a big extended family.

  1. Bicycle!!! Always happy to see one.

I agree with you on the political conversation side. For me it really depends on what the subject is. If there’s a fundamental disagreement on something like human rights I have no mute button – I just have an “unplug” button. They’re not worth keeping around as we clearly don’t see humanity in the same way. On the other hand, if the disagreements are more subtle, I agree – find something less charged to talk about or keep quiet entirely.

I think this is why I have a small but close circle of friends but not a lot of acquaintances I keep in touch with.

    • Oh! Todd you are talking like my husband 🙂
He can’t stand such people and he gave me this idea of “unpluging” several times.
My idea is to participate in other conversations since now I am aware of the thinking.
Instead of going deep I use my energy in other positive projects.
Thanks a lot for sharing your thoughts.

      • That’s a great use of your energy – I’m happier to see you sharing things here than arguing elsewhere online 🙂

And maybe sometimes it’s better to stay connected even if you don’t engage. Just quietly keep doing what you’re doing, role modeling along quietly inspiring change as you go.

  2. I understand. I’m doing something similar.
Your bike photo is lovely! 🙂 Love the festive flowers adorning the bike!
A bike ride is freeing…healing…fun…and while riding we don’t have to listen to anyone! 😉 🙂
