Weekend 113: A walk in fresh snow

We had snow on the night of 25th December but it was gone within 48 hours. It snowed for the sake of white Christmas. Many of us were missing snow even the people who don’t ski.

On the first day of 2021 we enjoyed our usual hike but there was no snow just some frost.

Fortunately we had good snow on Saturday morning. The trees covered with snow were beuatiful. The temperature was perfect for a leisure walk and a visit to our local cafe. They serve good carrot cake and coffee. The cafe visit didn’t happen as it was closed for Christmas. It may sound odd but yes, in this town the restaurant, the cafe and the bar all were closed from 21st December til 3rd of January. The employees were given Christmas break to be with their families.

It isn’t what you have or who you are or where you are or what you are doing that makes you happy or unhappy. It is what you think about it ~ Dale Carnegie

Resolve to keep happy, and your joy and you shall form an invincible host against difficulties ~ Helen Keller

Our walk was concluded with a piece of rum soaked fruit and nut cake which I made for Christmas and a cup of hot chocolate.

  1. What a beautiful walk! I love the quotes; they are uplifting. I think it is great the employees get that time off to enjoy the holiday, too. Cake and hot chocolate sound like a perfect way to end the hike! Enjoy your day!

  2. I miss snow — sometimes. I love it when it’s fresh and fragrant, but I don’t think I’d like to live in the cold all the time. Of course, my cold weather wardrobe isn’t so well stocked these days! Having the right clothes does make a difference.

    1. I love walking in fresh snow and checking on birds.
There was a time when I was not comfortable with snow but slowly I learned to live with it.
Now I am taking one more step and trying to love it as well.

Thanks a lot Linda. Enjoy your day.

  3. This is so lovely! I am in a fix trying to decide which is more enticing, the beautiful snow or the yummy cake… But then cake would be delicious with hot tea after a walk in that cold and beautiful snow covered landscapes 😀
I missed so many when I was off, glad you pointed this out Rupali. Snow is a novelty for us, I saw proper snow only twice ⛄❄️🌨️
But I saw lot of ice though hail storms, and rushing out with head covered to gather hailstones before the melted was so fun! We even popped a few into the mouth when mom was not watching 😀

    1. Thanks Deb. We are trying to go out for a walk irrespective of the cold at least we managed it until today.
I too have enjoyed those hails 🙂 It was part of our childhood fun but then eating them was no problem as we didn’t have so much pollution.
