ओळख/Little about Rupali

I started this blog almost 3 years ago. The crude idea was to pen down my thoughts in my mother tongue “marathi”. Marathi is an Indo-Aryan language and is the official language of the state Maharashtra (Mumbai/Bombay is the capital) in India.

It was a big step for me to express my thoughts in public as I am not a writer and never had such a dream. Moreover I wanted to do it in my mother tongue, strange but I have never learned it in school as I was born and brought up in another state. It was an experiment and I wanted to try this new journey of “blogging”.

Here is my first post expressing my dilemma, click the link below 🙂

माझे e- पुराण!!!!!

Now, about the title, what does it mean, “माझे = my” + “e=electronic” + “पुराण= text or thought”.

After spending sometime in the blogging world, I got interested in photography. Like writing it was not on my horizon in distant past but slowly I developed interest. Recently I a friend of mine made a joke, saying I am distracting away from writing and taking photography more seriously. 🙂 Isn’t it common when we have multiple hobbies.

Along this journey of blogging I have made good friends and learned variety of things. Though my hobbies are unrelated to what I do for my bread and butter, I enjoy both. Officially or as written on certificates, yes… I am  educated but I am more happy about the “finishing” part than the title itself. No misunderstanding please, it was my choice and I achieved it.

    • Thank you so much Linda. It’s one of the best comments I have ever heard.

  3. Your photographs are wonderful and inspire me to do better, not that I succeed often. I also love the aspirational sentences you add to your pictures sometimes, many of which I’ve noted and copied into my journal. Thank you for all of it.

  4. Just returning again to your pages to check out your new photographs. I can quite understand how photography takes over, it has done the same with me. I no longer write professionally as the new system of short deadlines and quick turnarounds do not suit my style so I too have turned to photography as something that can be done at any time with a small pocket camera in the pocket. Sometimes they are rubbish, but I still enjoy the process. Keep up your work, your posts, comments and photographs are always interesting.

    • Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts.
Photography is hobby for me as well. I take photographs to release my day today stress and sharing them on blog helped me meeting so many wonderful people. Everyone with a different talent taught me a new lesson life.
Besides all the difficult phases life is beautiful.

  5. Hi Rupali re: “a friend of mine made a joke, saying I am distracting away from writing and taking photography more seriously’. Well I personally love photo captures and quotes they communicate better than any language in the world”!
And remember ‘You don’t take a photograph, you make it’ ~ Ansel Adams
    Cheers 😊

    • Thanks a lot Dilip ji for visiting my blog and being so kind.
I feel comfortable with photos than words.
I know Ansel’s quote by heart and I am living the process of taking to making 🙂
      Stay safe and healthy.

  6. We have something in common, Rupali. I began my first blog in order to write, but after several years I became interested in nature photography, and began a second blog. Like you, I often combine words and images; it’s very enjoyable. I’m looking forward to following you now; being able to ‘see’ another part of the world and its culture is a wonderful thing.

  7. Hi, Rupali, I am a new ‘follower’ of your blog, and found out something interesting you may enjoy. Translate.google.com has Marathi on its language list!!
So even this monolingual American can say, मस्त ब्लॉग! 😉

  8. I’ve been following your blog for quite a while and have always enjoyed commenting on your lovely photographs. However, for the past two weeks, while I am allowed to “Like” your posts, I haven’t been able to find the comment box. I click here and there. No comment box. Anyway, just wanted you to know why I wasn’t commenting any more. For some reason, I could comment here.

  9. It’s taken me a long time to make my way to your “About” page, so I’m pleased to meet you and find out something about you. Like you, I developed an interest in photography after blogging for some time but I’ve always written stuff. In the blogging community however, I don’t think it matters, it’s just about recording things, telling stories, speaking out loud, and making a few distant friends. Nice meeting you at long last.

    • I am so glad that we met Maris. Thank you so much for taking initiative and thanks for reading the “about” page. I have a feeling that it might bore my readers but then smart writing is not what I am good at 😀.

I like to travel and now when I have opportunities I share what I see with my readers. It’s fun and keeps me engaging at the same time. Happy to meet folks

  10. So you are from Bombay? (Yes, I know the name has been changed some 20 years ago 🙂 ) and would you believe I have visited this city quite a number of times in my younger days.
I have even risked my life driving rental cars through Bombay and into the countryside outside
og this bustling city! 🙂 But the memories are getting faint . . . This must have been rather early in the 60thies or even late 50thies! But – now you are paying us a return visit, I understand?

You are right, I am an Indian now living in Norway. I like being in nature and taking pictures.
