Looks like the tree was hit by lightning some time ago. I had a tree like that in my yard, and the guy from the nursery diagnosed it as a lightning strike. It really is not uncommon. I have noticed that some trees that have fallen because of lightning strikes, have these gashes on them, some superficial and some deep.
Oh really!
Thank you so much Zakiah ji for sharing this information. We see this tree often while climbing and always talk about the mark. Guessing about why and how.
Beautiful photos! In all of their stages of life, and in all of their hardships in life, trees teach us so much…stay grounded, connect with your roots, bend don’t break, turn over a new leaf, keep growing, etc! 🙂
HUGS!!! 🙂
Oh! Is that a sad gash on that tree? Or maybe the bark just split due to growth?

Actually I am not sure but it doesn’t seem natural.

Thanks a lot dear Carolyn.
There is something in trees which attracts me a lot and thus I ended up having plenty of tree photos in each walk 🙂
